About Hurricane Golf Carts in Franklin, IN

Hurricane Golf Carts was founded by Chad & Julie Warweg in the fall of 2024, however, the roots of the company go way, way back! Our relationship was built on family, fun, adventure and MOTORSPORTS!! It all started way back in 1982 when Chad drove his moped to the Greenwood Park Mall and met Julie for the first time. After following her and her friend around the mall for a bit, he finally broke the ice with a conversation at the Sears arcade. From that first meeting on the moped, fun, adventure and motorsports have always been a big part of their lives.

After meeting Julie at the mall, and before he had a license to drive, Chad used to drive his moped from the east side of Greenwood to the west side of Greenwood where Julie lived. Although that drive today seems a little crazy on a moped, Chad used to do it quite often to get the chance to hang out with Julie. In the early days of their relationship, both their fathers were also very involved in motorsports and hot rod cars. Julie’s father, Jim, hand-built a 1929 C-cab dubbed the Pioneer City Express and Chad’s father, Ron, seemed to always have some hot rod in the garage he was working on. When it was time for Chad to finally get his driver’s license and get rid of the moped, Ron found him a 1957 Chevy which, ironically, was also the first new car Ron had ever bought himself. Throughout their high school and college years, there were many car shows and adventures with the families that followed.

Shortly after getting married in 1991 and starting his irrigation business, Chad began to help a friend with a racecar and eventually began racing himself. Chad’s racing career lasted about 10 years, and the end of racing brought on a whole new round of fun and adventure for the family!

By that time, Chad and Julie had two boys, Cole and Quinn, and the family began camping and boating with friends. Their first motorhome purchase led to a place at Brookville Lake, a few boats throughout the years and multiple golf carts. Family fun and adventure at the lake, and in the campground running around on golf carts followed as the boys grew up. When high school sports began to take up most of the weekend, the lake place was sold, and another motorhome was purchased to use as the boys traveled often for high school and travel baseball and football games. The Warweg’s were always on the go and looking for the next adventure!

As Cole was in college and Quinn was finishing up high school, Covid came along and really changed things for a bit, as everyone knows! During Covid, as many places were shut down, the Warweg’s began to find enjoyment in taking rides around their property and through the country roads on their golf carts doing what they called “HOA” checks! This usually involved some friends, some music, some cold beverages and some great conversation. The fun times they had on the golf carts during this time really planted the seed for what has become Hurricane Golf Carts.

A couple years later, they purchased a second home in Gulf Shores, Alabama. During frequent visits down to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, they began to see more and more golf carts being used by residents as both cities had ordinances in place allowing carts on certain public roadways and in certain neighborhoods. Seeing the fun everyone was having on the carts, and realizing there was an opportunity back home to create something fun and exciting for the community, they began to put the plans together to start a dealership. Having just completed a new building for their irrigation business in Franklin, Indiana, which had recently become a golf cart friendly community, Hurricane Golf Carts was founded! Located at the corner of Hurricane and Arvin Road, near two of the cities beautiful golf courses, they have a great location and look forward to the opportunity to show you what fun and adventure you can have with friends and family on one of their high-quality carts! They can’t wait to have the opportunity to meet you and help you get started on your next adventure!
